Moment tensor inversion of perforation shots using distributed acoustic sensing

نویسندگان

چکیده

Distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) fibers have enabled various geophysical applications in unconventional reservoirs. Combined with perforation shots, a DAS fiber can record valuable guided waves that propagate the reservoir formation and carry information about its properties. However, representation of shots as seismic sources, needed to conduct quantitative analysis, remains unknown. We model such sources using superposition three mechanisms for which we derive moment tensor representation. Using field data recorded same well where perforations are located, establish workflow invert resolvable components total 100 different shots. By scrutinizing inversion results, conjecture indicate how effectively shot creates micro-cracks surrounding rock. Furthermore, our inverted tensors form basis subsequent elastic full-waveform inversion.

Investigation of fracture processes using moment tensor inversion technique

The development and progress of fractures is accompanied by the radiation of acoustic waves due to microcracking. In the transient waveforms of acoustic emissions a huge number of information about fracture processes and the state of the material is inherent. Signal-based analysis of acoustic emissions allows, amongst other studies, for a fracture mechanics based investigation of failure. From ...

Identifying Isotropic Events Using a Regional Moment Tensor Inversion

The deviatoric and isotropic source components for 17 explosions at the Nevada Test Site, as well as 12 earthquakes and 3 collapses in the surrounding region of the western US, are calculated using a regional time-domain full waveform inversion for the complete moment tensor. The events separate into specific populations according to their deviation from a pure double-couple and ratio of isotro...

Moment tensor and stress inversion for an active fault system in west part of Lut-Block, Iran

Iran is one of the most tectonically active regions on the Alpine-Himalayan earthquake belt. Eastern Iran, nowadays, is one of the most active regions of the country. The occurrence of several destructive earthquakes during the past 50 years provides the evidence for the seismic activity in this region. The earthquakes are mostly concentrated around the Lut-block. There are strike-slip fault sy...
